Terms of service
Effective June 8, 2026
These terms govern your use of Lexio, a language-learning reading app. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms.
The service
Lexio provides AI-generated short stories with tap-to-translate, audio narration, and a spaced-repetition card system. We may add or remove features over time. We do our best to keep the service available but do not guarantee uptime.
Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Lexio.
- One account per person.
- You can delete your account at any time from the Account page.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically extract content beyond what the app provides.
- Use the service to harass, defraud, or harm others.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or our infrastructure.
- Resell or redistribute the service without our written permission.
Content
Story text, dictionary entries, audio, and cover images on Lexio are owned by Lexio or our licensors. You get a personal, non-transferable license to read and listen to them inside the app for your own language-learning use.
Your reading data - the cards you've tapped, your review history, your session logs - belongs to you. You can export it at any time.
AI-generated content
Stories and translations are produced by large language models. We review prompts and try to keep outputs accurate and on-tier, but translations may occasionally be imprecise and stories may occasionally contain errors. Don't rely on Lexio for legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice.
Paid plans
If you subscribe to a paid plan, billing is recurring on the cadence you select. You can cancel any time from your account; access continues through the end of the current billing period. We don't refund partial periods except where required by law.
Termination
You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms; we'll give reasonable notice when we can.
Disclaimers
Lexio is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lexio and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you've paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or USD 50, whichever is greater.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Lexio is currently operated by an individual rather than a registered company; references to "we," "us," or "Lexio" mean that operator until a formal legal entity is established and named here.
Dispute resolution
If something goes wrong, contact us first (see Contact below). Most issues can be resolved informally, and you agree to give us a chance to do so before starting any formal proceeding. If we cannot resolve a dispute within 30 days of you raising it, any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or your use of Lexio will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Texas, United States, and you and the operator each consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. To the extent permitted by law, you agree to bring claims only in your individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class or representative action.
Changes
If we make material changes to these terms, we'll update the effective date above and notify active users by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the service after that constitutes acceptance.
